KAU (previously KAU trio.) release "Little Steps", the first teaser from new album

Posted on 09/06/2023

Always on the quest for the ultimate head bobbing and neck breaking vibe, “Little Steps” is - as the trio have accustomed their audience to witness in their music - a showcase of their ability to roam through different genres and moods in relative ease and finesse. These are represented by ‘Glasper’-like RnB riffs and ‘Herbie Hancock’-style chord progressions that set the audience right in the zone and culminate for what comes in the second part of the song: Chicago footwork and UK two-step beats. The presence of the walking bassline is a distinctive element of the song, which inspired the track title. The piece takes the listener through a trip of constant build-ups and rests of energy, at times danceable and at times hypnotical.

At 1:15 we hear the band share a raclette or gabagool (they have both Italian and French roots) and you can hear them saying the following line:

“have it all; go for it; it’s the way we say thank you”

And that's exactly what this track stands for, a thank you message to fans and early supporters at the same time being a welcome gift to new fans.

Little by little and step by step... this young and ambitious trio will aim for your dancing shoes and soul.

KAU (previously KAU trio.) is an instrumental trio based in Brussels. Representing various European backgrounds, the Belgian capital and melting pot proves to be a never ending source of inspiration for the band.

Taking influences from jazz, groove and dance music, their aim is simple but straightforward: to make your heads bob. The formula they use to do so has been the same since their early days: improvisation, never ending jam sessions and an open-mindedness towards various genres and styles. This gives their music an organic and vibrant feel.

Furthermore, the three boys' long-lasting friendship is at the heart of it all, always relying on what brings them together: their love for music. The KAU cycle is bound to repeat itself and to birth something new - over and over again.

“The Cycle Repeats” is KAU’s debut album, due for release on September 22 via Sdban Ultra, the home of ECHT!, Black Flower, Glass Museum, STUFF. and more.
