John Ghost is back with ‘The Dimmed’, a first teaser from new atmospheric album

After the critically acclaimed “Airships Are Organisms” (4-star reviews in The Guardian and Financial Times, as well as airplay on BBC 6 and Worldwide FM) John Ghost is back with new album ‘Thin Air . Mirror Land” (to be released on October 6 via Sdban Ultra) and a first glimpse called ‘The Dimmed’.

For the new album the band teamed up with producer and Norwegian artist Jørgen Træen, who has become a close collaborator. Træen has previously worked with artists like Jaga Jazzist, Electric Eye, and various projects on the Hubro Record Label. The dystopian artwork for the album was created by Jaak De Digitale.

‘The Dimmed' is the first teaser of the new album and a very satisfying one at that. It incorporates a slightly more grounded and raw approach in comparison with previous work, moving away from pure futurism. The music features acoustic influences that create a repetitive undercurrent, hypnotic and penetrating. It forms a mantra that continues to resonate beneath the evolving melodies, occasionally bursting with spontaneous sounds.

About John Ghost

John Ghost consists of Jo De Geest (Endlingr), Rob Banken (Rapidman, HAST), Wim Segers (Compro Oro, PAARD.), Karel Ceulenaere (Black Flower), Lieven Van Pée (Echoes of Zoo, De Beren Gieren) and Elias Devoldere (Nordmann, Elias). Together they went through a thoughtful studio process, with the result being a conceptual and slightly dystopian atmosphere, inspired by Edward Munch's painting "The Storm" (1893).
