Adja makes a plea for calm on new single 'A Moment'

Brussels-based artist Adja Fassa releases her new single ‘A Moment’, two years after the well-received ep IRONEYE - and yes, Adja’s debut album is also on the horizon. The album promises to be quite a ride: a contemporary body of work about the way our capitalistic society impacts our most intimate moments.

The first single, ‘A Moment’, is a gentle plea for exactly that: a moment to breathe. It imagines a couple (think Bonnie and Clyde) being exhausted from life's ups and downs, as they both try to make a living as an artist. Their love is strong, but so are the tides they have to sail.

With a humorous approach, Adja tells the story of what she feels is a sentiment that embodies our collective desire: to rest and to be able to digest our life’s happenings. Instead we’re too often pushed to go on as the world keeps spinning. Simultaneously, the song itself is offered as a breath of fresh air. Written by herself and her partner-in-crime - guitarist, arranger and composer - Alexis Nootens, we get an insight of what’s to come: a complex and layered journey, leading us back to… solace?

‘A Moment’ is as much a plea for, as it is an offering of (hopefully) a sense of freedom and relief” ~ Adja.

The music is embodied by a self-made tarot card, wrapping up serious and concrete topics in a symbolic and light package. She puts ‘The Wheel of Fortune’ front and center for obvious reasons and highlights what she values: straightforwardness, critical thinking and, paradoxically, a bit of mysticism.

A Moment’ was co-produced with British producer and musician Adam Scrimshire. In 2022 Scrimshire was named in the Guardian as one of three crucial soul-music producers in the UK today (alongside Inflo and Swindle).

This is the latest new work from Adja since her debut EP two years ago, it’s the start of a new chapter in Adja’s career with an upcoming album scheduled for Spring 2025 via Sdban Ultra and a release show in the legendary Brussels venue Ancienne Belgique on the 9th of May.
