KAU release Unknown Waveforms Restrung today, this digital EP revisits material from their latest album through a live studio collaboration with Cologne based string ensemble blu/quartet.
Featuring reworked versions of cr_eye, isle_of_man and dive_deep, the EP moves beyond adaptation into full reinterpretation. Acoustic instrumentation is woven into KAU’s signature mix of heavy bass, intricate rhythms and synthesizers, deepening the cinematic tension and atmosphere of the original compositions.
Each track highlights a different facet of the band’s identity. cr_eye stands out for its dynamic interplay between complex drums and classically informed harmonies, while isle_of_man blends a nostalgic trip hop influence with guest contributions from Minla (Marthe Van Droogenbroeck and Mirte Leconte). dive_deep unfolds more gradually, balancing expansive synth textures with the expressive range of the string quartet.
