The aptly titled ‘Boilerbeek’, a nod to both the upcoming album and the Brussels neighbourhoods of Schaarbeek and Molenbeek (the latter infamously labeled a "hellhole" by Trump), condenses everything the band’s music has to offer.
Thumping basslines drive the track from start to finish and act as its thriving heart, while variations keep the energy and dynamic, and the song’s structure shifts fluidly. Hard-hitting from the get-go, the tr ack works its way towards a more laid-back groove before surging back to full power after an atmospheric break. Just when it seems every layer of the band’s sound has been revealed, the song shifts once more, closing with an almost church-like resonance—an unexpected yet fitting conclusion.
This single is an ode to the band’s hometown and its neighbourhoods. Sometimes industrial and grungy, yet also complex and intriguing due to its diverse influences. Merging their signature creativity with technical skill through hip-hop elements, experimental beats, and an uncompromising approach to sound design, They reach full maturity in a sound they've been shaping and championing for years—always with that unmistakable, genre-defying touch.
With the music video that comes with this latest single, ECHT! takes things even further, making a direct reference to the pop culture status of Boiler Room itself. It proves that club music can be both heavy and self-aware — and the band is having a blast playing with these elements.
